Short lecture on common clinical cases seen at OPD
The student is given an introduction to cardiac embryology, which is an essential foundation to understanding anatomy and physiology of congenital heart disease.
The clinical elective in Medicine is a 4 week course offered by the Department of Medicine to clinical clerks (LU6) and interns (LU7). Students may opt to choose any subspecialty in Medicine for this elective. Learning objectives for the course are based on a learning contract prepared by the student and approved by the home preceptor.

Excretory Module Description: Pathophysiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, prevention and principles of treatment of diseases of the renal and urinary system
Credit Units: 90 hours
Overview:
This module is designed to enhance the students’ understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of renal and urinary tract disease. This will be approached using a variety of learning activities including lectures, topic conferences, problem-based learning sessions, laboratory skills sessions, hemodialysis visits, panel discussions and bedside preceptorials. The ten clinical syndromes will be tackled in the discussion of each of the problems. There will also be an attempt to emphasize the psychosocial dimensions of diseases of the renal and urinary tract during the case discussions. Component skills that need to be developed include skills in history taking, general physical examination, interpretation of laboratory examinations and the doctor-patient relationship.
Course description: Pathophysiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, prevention and principles of treatment of diseases of the endocrine system. This is the second part of the course OS 215, which focuses on the various endocrine glands apart from the gonads.
